After seeing the Lando Skiff costume in London years ago we fell in love with all the Skiff guard costumes and one day hope to complete our display, so far we have been working on Lando and Nikto, to see our progress on the Nikto costume visit our other thread.

So far on this project we have prototyped the helmet, trousers, the under tunic, belt and loin cloth and we have started the tunic.

The helmet is something that we hope to be able to offer for sale soon. The main helmet is vacuum formed, painted and covered with real leather whilst the jaw is cast in polyurethane. We have tried to be as true to the original ROTJ helmet as possible and are hoping to use the same brand of helmet liner as used for the original helmet. Please keep in mind that these pictures are a prototype and so some details are not completely finalised yet.

The trousers are made from of white linen, they are double layered as single layer linen can be a bit see through.

The under tunic is made from linen which was dyed black. I used the same heavy linen as I used on Darth Maul’s cloak. It is a simple pull on top with a round neck but it has quite unique sleeves. They are fitted from the elbow down for the armour.

The belt and loin cloth are made from a leather which is heavy and distressed. It’s a fantastic leather and looks spot on. I managed to find some rings for the belt the correct diameter, the belt simply velcro’s in place. The loin cloth is rolled leather with two flaps front and back and is held in position with leather ties. It’s quite a heavy piece but it’s great.

The tunic is being made from lots of pleated brown suede. So far it has taken 3 hides and I still have the back to finish.
